Behind the Scenes with Focus on Imaging

At the start of December I worked on a promo film and advertising still for this years Focus on Imaging at Birminghams NEC.
The subject was the massively inspiring (and brilliantly humble) photographer Robert Dowling who, amongst many other iconic images, created a few of the Pink Floyd album covers in the late 1970’s early 1980’s.
The one we were attempting to reference was the cover to ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’, so a small crew assembled on a freezing cold Camber Sands beach. I managed to grab a few behind the scenes shots throughout the day, and you can see the finished the video here

  • Fantastic pictures of Camber Sands beach I’ve lived there for nearly nine months now and still somehow manage to miss all the interesting photo shoots. Was the original ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ taken at Camber Sands as well. I think I recognise the dunes in the original but I’m not 100%

Damn, I wish I could take photo’s like this!

  • Hi Sarah,

Thanks so much for your kind comments. I really enjoyed it down there although it was very cold!
The original location of ‘A Momentary Lapse of Reason’ was taken at Saunton Sands in Devon. It was considered that we would do the shoot there but in the end the photographer decided that it wasn’t necessary as the shot is about the photographer Robert Dowling rather than the beach/album cover itself.
    All the best,

    Louise
