The past few weeks have been quite busy so hopefully I shall have quite a few things to post up.
One of the most enjoyable shoots was for my dear friend Blue Firth. Blue is an artist who recently had a show at Copenhagen Place in Limehouse.
I rushed to meet Blue to photograph her artworks in between doing another job and found the biggest slab of chocolate cake waiting for me (always a bonus!), so it was great to chill out a bit before we got the camera out.
Although only asked to photograph the artworks for her archive, I couldn’t resist doing a few portraits of her as she was wearing the most amazing outfit which went so perfectly well with her work. All in all a lovely afternoon spent ‘working’ with a lovely lady.

Smiley Store

For a recent Time Out commission I was asked to visit the new Boxpark pop up mall in Shoreditch to photograph the Smiley Store. I am of course familiar with the smiley face symbol, however I didn’t envisage just how much smiley memorabilia you could buy in one shop! It was great and instantly lifts your spirits. The vibe of the store is so cool and fun to be in. The stereo is blasting, the colours are vibrant and the staff are so nice and helpful. I had the fortune of finding shop assistant Sophia working that day so roped her in to model her smiley wear for me. She was brilliant and really made the shots with her effortless cool.
I could have spent a fortune in there myself, and will definitely go back. If you need a little pick me up in this grey cold weather, head over to the Smiley Store.

Klub Gutenberg

Last night I headed down to Klub Gutenberg to learn about the Slow Loris and watch an acoustic gig by Aidan Moffat. It was a strange event, fusing together learning with a music gig but it was really good fun. One of those random London events that you stumble across.

On a recent commission for Time Out Magazine, I was asked to photograph the East End traditional Fish & Chip Emporium, Poppies.
The feature was based around 50 places in London which make you feel good and for sure Poppies is one of them. Right from the moment I walked in, the place was buzzing. Lots of pretty waitresses wearing old fashioned pinafores and head scarves were floating around, making sure everyone was happy. The resturant was filled with customers, even at 3pm on a Friday, but the staff did everything they could to help accommodate you.
It was definitely a place I would go to again, and as a perk of the job I got a free lunch which was delicious too.
