As part of the Big Issue magazines #whybooksmatter campaign for better literacy in Britain, they are giving away books to community reading groups. Showing his support and dropping off some books to a West London academy was children’s author Michael Rosen. Whilst there he gave a thrilling assembly, excitedly storytelling, wildly gesticulating and lurching around to the children’s great delight. There was no face in that room without a smile on it, including mine.
I then got to photograph Michael with some of the children to feature in the magazine. They say never to work with animals or children but this lot behaved impeccably and having Michael as chief entertainer massively helped me get some great shots before boredom kicked in.
