I recently had the fortune to sit in on a talk by Welsh entrepreneur Nev Wilshire, star of reality TV show The Call Centre. His pitch was given to a selection of Big Issue vendors, offering tips on how to improve sales and telling his background story of going from millionaire to bankruptcy and his rise back up to owning his own business again.
Although initially greeted with a little defiance from some of the Vendors, he quickly won them over with a quick wit and a an empathetic ear and as an owner of my own business too I found the talk really inspiring. Post talk we ventured to Covent Garden so he could put his own words into practice by selling the Big Issue. He put so much effort into it despite being ignored by most people, that he managed to sell 12 copies in 40 minutes (apparently David Cameron couldn’t even sell one)
