Marcus Nodder is senior pastor at St.Peters Barge located at West India Quay.
It is the only floating church in London (possibly the UK) and was devised to facilitate the worship of those working at Canary Wharf.
The Dutch freight barge was refitted in the Netherlands in 2003 and sailed across the sea the following year to it’s new home and in 2004, Marcus was appointed as senior Pastor.
Other than a basic wooden cross, the outside of the barge looks like any other. The interior appears as though it’s modelled on a church hall. Wooded panelling decking the sides and red/brown carpet throughout. The walls aren’t adorned with religious imagery, which makes this barge wholly discreet and strips it down to a place where those businesspeople who choose to can worship in peace.
