It’s quite a day when you get paid with money and pizza for a days work. Such was the case when I photographed Bobby Hashemi, businessman, entrepreneur and founder of Pizza Union amongst many other well known endeavours. I can honestly say my urge to have a pizza in the shot as a ‘prop’ was certainly not to create an opportunity that it might be going spare at the end, it just worked out that way.
The shoot took place at the Pentonville Road branch, which was decked out with stylish tiled walls and tables and another of my favourite things, neon signs, one of which I used as a backdrop for the close up shot. An incredibly photogenic Bobby arrived, charming, friendly, looking cool in black top and new balance trainers, and in a whirlwind it was over and I was out the door pizza in hand.
