Even though I specialise in portraiture occasionally I get to adapt my skills to other areas of photography. Although this can sometimes present a challenge, ultimately it makes me enjoy my job even more. A couple of weeks ago I was commissioned by Cosmopolitan to photograph a DIY nail feature as a step by step process. Hands are one of the most awkward things to photograph so this was one of those challenges.
The theme was ‘DIY’ with a premise that you can create striking nail art effects with implements you can find in your kitchen cupboard. As someone who loves having coloured nails but is unable to apply nail varnish without painting my whole hand, it was a real eye-opener. We completed 6 looks and this was the most exotic.
