One of the rising stars of the menswear fashion scene, Grace Wales Bonner still manages to be quiet and unassuming. My trip to her studio was a quick one, she was in the midst of sorting a new collection so nothing in the studio could be photographed as it was all covert, no fabric, no mood boards, no mannequins, nothing. Which presented a problem when I had been asked to photograph her in her studio. Instead we optimised her cool aloofness and photographed her in the corridor outside, showing nothing but a framed print that she uses for inspiration and a kind of harsh frontal light to give that interrogatory feel to it.
