Dame Margaret Beckett is the UK’s longest serving female MP. Having held her seat in Derby South since 1983, she has held posts within the Labour Party such as Deputy Leader, Leader ( for a short period after the death of John Smith) and also was the first female to hold the position of Foreign Secretary during Tony Blair’s time as Prime Minister. At the age of 76 she still frequently appears on political media coverage and shows no sign of giving up her seat anytime soon. I photographed her in her quiet office in Parliament which is adorned with artifacts from around the globe, which were gifted or picked up during her stint as Foreign Secretary.
