I’ve been fortunate enough to see inside many government buildings over the last couple of years but the Home Office was not one of them until my recent shoot with Mark Sedwill, who holds the post of Permanent Secretary there. Gaining access to anywhere beyond reception is a process of airport scanners, ID documents, strange capsule gates that lock you inside before the next door opens and of course having your name on the system. If your name isn’t on there, you definitely won’t be going in.
Once through the capsule thing, inside the building is quite impressive so it’s well worth the initial challenge, though we had no time to admire, and found ourselves scurrying the corridors to make our appointment with Mark who greeted us warmly and happily posed for various set ups in the frantic minutes post interview. The shots can be found in the latest Civil Service World Magazine.
