I spent the bank holiday at my Sister-in-laws family home in mid Wales. The beautiful cottage where she grew up is nestled in the mountains, overlooking a gorgeous vista of pine trees on either side of a valley. The place is an isolated haven, with the only sign of life being the fleeting birds eagerly nibbling away at the copious feeders, and the occasional sight of a distant train snaking the Aberystwyth line. It’s exactly the sort of place you could imagine escaping to write that elusive novel, or where a band might disappear to record an album.
On the final night of my stay the sky was relatively clear so I attempted to do a couple of 20 minute long exposure star trails. I’d love to try a much longer one in future, but these are a good starting point.
